Previously, he taught in the Departments of Health and Physical Education at Boston University and the City College of New York. Dr. Pargman received the Master's degree from Teacher's College, Columbia University and Ph.D. from New York University. Dr. Pargman is author and co-author of two other books that deal respectively with stress and performance, and fitness and wellness. He is currently completing a textbook entitled Sport Psychology. He has been major professor to 25 Ph.D. graduates, is a member of the American Psychological Association, International Association of Applied Psychology, the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity, and a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology and the American College of Sports Medicine. He is also a Certified Sport Psychology Consultant, the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology. Dr. Pargman has competed in hundreds of road races, was a member of his college track and cross-country team and continues to train, run, and compete as a distance runner. Consequently, he is often injured and in the throes of mental and physical rehabilitative experiences.
